The Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri (HBA) began in 1934 when seven builders started the Builder's Guild. Since then, the HBA has grown to nearly 600 members representing the local residential construction industry in the City of St. Louis and the counties of St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, Lincoln, Pike, Montgomery, Franklin, Warren and Washington. The St. Louis HBA is one of the most active local building industry associations in the country.
The association helps create a region that promotes and protects the viability of the building industry by serving its members who strive to meet the housing needs of its neighbors.
The HBA educates its members in the best practices and latest trends in the home building industry. Working with government and elected officials to keep housing affordable is another important role for the HBA.
The HBA also helps prospective home buyers by providing free tips to help them through the home buying process.
In 1997, the Home Builders Charitable Foundation (HBCF) was created. The HBCF is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance in housing to people or organizations with special shelter needs to further the building industry objective of bettering the community. Since its inception, the HBCF has provided more than $1.9 million in funding, materials and labor to shelter related local charities.
