Give Your Family Shelter from the Storm

Give Your Family Shelter from the Storm
February, 2014

When the next storm hits St. Louis, will you be ready? Wieser Concrete Products offers Above Ground Precast Concrete Storm Shelters. Their shelter designs were evaluated by an independent, third-party engineer for conformance to the National Storm Shelter Association Standard. You can have peace of mind knowing that your shelter is manufactured using high strength materials and is designed for wind speeds of 250 MPH, which are greater than that of an enhanced F-5 tornado.

Storm shelters can be delivered and installed at your location in a few hours. They can be used as a safe room in new home construction or old home renovating/remodeling. By special request, shelters can be used as a safe by modifying the door frame bolts. When your shelter is installed, Wieser Concrete Products takes a GPS reading of the shelter’s location and forwards it to the NSSA to be entered into their database. Precast concrete shelters have low electrical conductivity and noise resonance. Most cellular services are not significantly affected when inside a precast concrete shelter.

Wieser Concrete Products has chosen to only recommend Above Ground Shelters for several reasons. Shelters are only good if you can get into them safely, and below ground shelters typically require stairs and hatches. Hatches can be hard to lift; imagine how hard it would be in extreme wind and rain. Stairs can get wet and slippery and can be dangerous during a storm event, making it difficult to get into a shelter. Stairs can become particularly hazardous as we get older. Above Ground Shelters are great for the safety of your entire family. Wieser Concrete Products offers four standard models of Above Ground Shelters, but there are sizes from a six-person all the way up to a 34-person community shelter, and all of them can be installed to be wheelchair accessible.
